Arsenal Player Ratings: Southampton (H)

Arsenal eased to a 2-0 victory over Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners set out looking to build on their 3-0 win over BATE Borisov in the Europa League in midweek and had no issues in sweeping aside Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team.

Alexandre Lacazette gave the hosts the lead in the first half only moments after Bernd Leno made a smart stop to deny Nathan Redmond.

The Frenchman flicked home after confusion in the box among Southampton’s defenders.

It was not long before Arsenal extended their advantage. Henrikh Mkhitaryan found space on the right-hand side of the box and drove the ball into Angus Gunn’s net after yet more defensive mishaps from the visitors.

Arsenal had a flurry of chances throughout the match but were able to remain in second gear throughout, with Southampton rarely testing their resolve.
