Arsenal didn’t get their Europa League knockout stage campaign off on the right foot on Thursday evening, losing 1-0 to BATE Borisov in Belarus.
The Belarus champions, whose regular season ended two months ago, scored the winning goal shortly before half-time through Stanislaw Drahun.
Despite having dominated large parts of the game, holding 77% of the possession at full-time, Arsenal spurned a number of good chances, and their night went from bad to worse after Alexandre Lacazette saw red for an elbow shortly before the full-time whistle.
The Gunners will now need to rely on a strong home performance once Borisov travel to the Emirates next week.
Here are four key talking points that we have picked up on following the game in Barysaw.
