Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, whose contract runs out in the summer.

According to The Guardian, there has been very little progress on a new contract for the Spaniard, and the Gunners appear to be keen to sign him.

They could have to battle the likes of Juventus, PSG and Barcelona for Mata’s signature though.

The 30-year-old is now able to talk to foreign clubs and could yet sign a pre-contract agreement with United yet to renew his contract.

A move to North London may suit Mata though, given that he played under current boss Unai Emery when he was at Valencia.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently claimed United would not be letting any players go in this window but he did not speak about what could happen in the summer, offering Arsenal some hope.

Mata could prove to be a smart piece of business for any side, he has the best goal ratio of any Spanish midfielder in the Premier League.
