Cech announces plans to retire at the end of the season

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has announced that he will retire at the end of the season.

As confirmed by a post on his official Twitter account, Cech released a short statement outlining his plans to hang up his gloves in the summer.

Cech has been a regular in the Premier League for well over a decade after spells with both Arsenal and Chelsea.

The goalkeeper has enjoyed an illustrious career in the Premier League, joining Chelsea way back in 2004.

He overcame the odds and returned from a horrific head injury that left him requiring metal plates in his skull, forcing him to wear a protective cap for the rest of his career.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, he would win 13 major honours before seeking pastures new and joining Arsenal in 2015.

While at Arsenal, he has been hailed for his leadership, helping the Gunners win the FA Cup and two Community Sheilds.
