Arsenal have exercised an option in Nacho Monreal’s contract to extend his deal by a further year.
According to ESPN, via The Mirror, Arsenal have triggered the extension and Monreal is now contracted until the summer of 2020.
His previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but Unai Emery is keen to keep him at The Emirates.
Monreal has struggled with injuries at time this season, but has proven himself to be a reliable player for Arsenal over the years.
The Spanish defender has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club from Malaga in 2012.
In his time at the club, he has won three FA Cups and three Community Shields, but has not managed to mount a successful title challenge.
The report claims that Stephan Lichtsteiner also has a one-year extension written into his deal, but Arsenal are yet to decide on his future.
