Arsenal facing a vital January transfer window

After a relatively successful first transfer window at Arsenal, Unai Emery has come into the January transfer window with a real need to impress again.

With Rob holding and Danny Welbeck sustaining season curtailing injuries, the squad has seemed a little threadbare at times over the Christmas period, especially in defence, meaning it’s vital Arsenal strengthen this month if they wish to finish in the top four this season.

Of course, before anyone can attack Emery we all know the issues Arsenal have off the field with a lack of investment from the club’s owner Stan Kroenke.

However, one would expect that with Arsenal potentially staring down the barrel of another season out of the Champions League and the financial restraints that come with that Emery might be allowed to spend a little if it can get him into the top four.

It’s also extremely vital this January goes well in the eyes of the fans. After a poor Christmas period, the Gunners have fallen behind some of their top six rivals, raising concerns about Emery’s suitability for the job, but a solid signing and a good finish to the season will allow for no such thoughts towards Emery.

Arsenal will be looking to start another winning run after beating Fulham 4-1.

Supporters will hope that unlike previous seasons under Arsene Wenger, the club won’t fall apart during the final months of the campaign and if all else fails Emery is the master of the Europa League, right?
