# Ozil to reject January moves away from Arsenal

Mesut Ozil is not planning on leaving Arsenal anytime soon, despite suggestions a loan move could be on the cards.

[ESPN report](https://www.espn.co.uk/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/3740306/ozil-to-reject-loan-move-from-arsenal-in-january-and-fight-for-place-in-team-sources) that the German international is focused on winning back his spot in Unai Emery’s plans.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has endured a slow start to the season, with injuries meaning he has been unable to nail down a regular spot in Emery’s squad.

While Ozil has struggled with injuries, there have also been concerns about the player’s work rate and ability to adapt to Emery’s tactical demands.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the German playmaker, but his huge wages mean that a loan deal is the most viable option in the near future.

Any deal that could take the player away from the Emirates would surely require the Gunners to subsidise a large percentage of his wage.
