Emery facing FA investigation regarding Brighton bottle-kicking incident

Not Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Jürgen Locadia, but there is an argument to be made that the most clinical man inside the Amex on Boxing Day was Unai Emery.

Frustrated with his side’s performance, the Gunners boss took his anger out on a nearby water bottle. Swinging a foot at it, the Spanish tactician guided the receptacle into the crowd, supposedly hitting a Brighton supporter.

Despite apologising both at the time and after the full time whistle, it has emerged Thursday that Emery will face an FA investigation regarding the incident.

The severity of the event seems to be relatively minor, and it’s possible the first-year manager may escape any kind of sanction from the game’s authorities.

Nevertheless, a cloud still hangs over Arsenal’s performance. Mesut Özil was hauled off at half-time, defensive frailties persist, and a trip to Liverpool at the weekend seems ominous for an Arsenal side not quite firing on all cylinders.
