Emery charged over bottle-kicking incident at Brighton

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been charged by the Football Association for kicking a bottle at a Brighton supporter during their Boxing Day game.

BBC Sport have confirmed that the FA have decided to punish the Arsenal boss, despite the matter being played down by both clubs.

Emery was seen to kick a bottle at a Brighton supporter but was quick to go over and apologise after realising it had made contact with the fan.

This is not the first time this has happened in the Premier League in recent years.

Jose Mourinho suffered a similar fate when the same thing happened during his time at Manchester United.

The ex-United boss was given a one-game touchline ban.

Emery will be hoping that he can put things right against Liverpool on Saturday, with the Gunners in need of a good performance after their disappointing efforts against Chris Hughton’s side.
