Harry Kane an injury doubt for north London derby
Arsenal have received a potentially huge boost with the news that Harry Kane could miss Wednesday’s EFL Cup quarter-final.
Tottenham head to the Emirates looking for revenge after their 4-2 defeat earlier this month, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.
Kane is believed to be suffering with a cold, however, and Mauricio Pochettino may not risk him ahead of a busy festive period.
The Spurs manager confirmed the news during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, saying:
We need to assess him because he had a cold and he didn’t go outside to train.
[It’s a] big decision. If we consider that he can cover 90 minutes, maybe he can play. If not, maybe he will be on the bench.
To protect him, he didn’t train outside. He was doing something in the gym.
Both sides will feel this is a genuine chance of silverware this season, even though an unstoppable Manchester City side are already in the semis.
The EFL Cup is generally viewed as the least important competition, but when Arsenal and Tottenham lock horns it is always vital.
Bragging rights are up for grabs and both Unai Emery and Pochettino are searching for their maiden trophy in north London.
