Former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis believes Alexis Sanchez could look for a shock return to Arsenal next summer.

The Chilean has suffered a miserable time of things at United since joining in January, scoring just four times in 30 appearances.

He is currently sidelined until the New Year, as his Old Trafford career shows few signs of taking off.

Speaking to Bwin, Kanchelskis says he could envisage a situation where Sanchez returns to Arsenal:

Sanchez was the main man at Arsenal, but he’s just another player at United and he hasn’t been able to adapt to that.

He was loved by the Arsenal fans and got to be their idol, which pumped him with confidence every week, but with other major stars around him at United, he is failing to meet expectations.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sanchez look for a move back to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The only issue is, will he be able to demand the same wage if he leaves Man Utd.

He’ll want to secure Champions League football, which Arsenal look more likely to gain as it stands.

The main thing working against a Sanchez return is whether Arsenal actually need him now.

Unai Emery’s side have made great improvements this season and are now unbeaten in 22 matches.

There are also question marks over whether or not Sanchez is past his best, as he prepares to celebrate his 30th birthday next Wednesday.
