Smith Rowe turned down Barcelona to stay at Arsenal

Emile Smith Rowe is fast endearing himself to the Arsenal faithful.

The 18-year-old has made six appearances for the Gunners so far this season, and has bagged himself three goals.

A report from the Evening Standard on Thursday has claimed that the youngster was the subject of serious interest from Barcelona in the summer, but the thought of leaving the Emirates never entered the Croydon-native’s mind.

Speaking of the approach from the Catalan outfit, the Standard quote Smith Rowe as saying:

I used to watch that Barcelona team, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, when they were in their prime,

So when I found out that they were interested of course I was very happy, but I can’t explain to you how much I feel that Arsenal is the right club for me.

A hip injury has kept the England U19 international out of tonight’s dead rubber Europa League match against Qarabag FK, but expect to see more of him during the busy period of festive fixtures.
