Arsenal told to pay at least £30million for Miguel Almiron

Arsenal have been told they will have to pay at least £30million to sign Miguel Almiron in January.

According to the Mirror, the Paraguayan attacker’s value has been “revealed”, following his MLS Cup win with Atlanta United at the weekend.

Almiron is being closely watched by both Arsenal and Newcastle, with the 24-year-old reportedly Rafa Benitez’s No.1 target in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Mirror Football, Atlanta President Darren Eales, formerly of Tottenham, discussed the valuation of his player:

I will only get out of bed when it starts with a 3! That is the sort of level it has to be for a player of his quality.

He’s that good? Yes, he’s great really.I am not surprised there is interest from top clubs.

He has got great ability. He is faster with the ball than without. he reminds me a lot of Gareth Bale in that respect, from when I was at Spurs.

He went from Paraguay to Argentina, proved himself, then came to America. One of his greatest qualities is he does both sides of the game. He is a mercurial talent.

He scores free kicks, he sets up people, like Jose Martinez in our final. He also tracks back. He will make a 60 yard run to back. He is the ultimate in term of going both ways. He is a team player.

The biggest question mark surrounding Almiron is whether he could make the step up from the MLS to the Premier League, but he is clearly an exciting talent.
