Arsenal are expected to face competition from Roma in their bid to sign Julian Weigl from Borussia Dortmund.
According to reports in Italy, Roma’s director of football Monchi is keen to bring the player to Serie A.
Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is also said to be an admirer and could look to bring yet another Dortmund player to the Emirates.
The report claims that Roma are hopeful of signing the player on a loan deal in January until the end of next season.
Weigl has fallen out of favour in the Bundesliga and it has been suggested he could be on the move in the new year.
The midfielder remains highly regarded at Dortmund, but the arrival of Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel means he has found game time hard to come this season under Lucien Favre.
Italian outfit Milan have also been credited with an interest recently, with the midfielder unlikely to be short of suitors if he is allowed to leave the Bundesliga club.
