Rob Holding facing spell on the sidelines with” big injury”

Arsenal defender Rob Holding is facing a sustained spell on the sidelines, having picked up an injury against Manchester United.

The Gunners took home a share of the spoils at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, drawing 2-2 but twice throwing away a lead.

One of the biggest negatives on the night was an injury suffered by Holding, with the English youngster an impressive performer of late.

The 23-year-old collided with Marcus Rashford in the first-half and was subsequently stretchered off.

Speaking after the game, manager Unai Emery did not appear positive about the centre-back’s prognosis:

The doctors think it may be a big injury.

It is a cruel blow for Holding, who has been such a bright spark in Arsenal’s 20-game unbeaten run.

It also worsens the Gunners’ defensive injury crisis, with both Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal still missing.

Up next for Emery’s men is the visit of Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon, as they look to make it 21 matches without defeat.

They will have to achieve that without Holding, who looks to have made his last appearance of 2018.
