Arsenal are believed to have had an approach for Lyon star Houssem Aouar rejected by the Ligue 1 outfit, TEAMtalk reports.
The 20-year-old is in heavy demand heading into the January transfer window after starring so far for Lyon this season.
Aouar was one of the key players who managed to earn the French side a 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City in the Champions League last week, and City boss Pep Guardiola said he was very impressed with the youngster – comments which lead to the midfielder being linked with a move to Guardiola’s side.
Chelsea and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Aouar for a while now and Arsenal are the latest Premier League side to join the race for the youngster.
Lyon are belueved to have already rejected an approach from Chelsea for Aouar and now L’Equipe claim that Unai Emery’s side are the latest to have an offer turned down.
Arsenal will be searching for a long-term replacement for the outgoing Aaron Ramsey in the January transfer window, it’s been reported that Arsenal’s initial enquiry has been knocked back.
