Arsenal look set to miss out on a deal to sign MLS star Miguel Almiron, with Newcastle seemingly closing in on a move.
According to the Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez’s side will hold talks with the player’s club this week in a bid to complete a £25 million deal.
The playmaker has been heavily linked with a number of English clubs ahead of the January window.
Arsenal were believed to be favourites for his signature earlier in the season, but Newcastle appear to have overtaken them. West Ham and Tottenham have previously been credited with an interest.

Almiron has long been regarded as one of the most creative and attacking players in the MLS, earning a plenty of admirers after netting 12 times and providing 14 assists in 35 games.
Unai Emery clearly remains keen to add to his midfield options, with the Gunners also being linked with Pablo Fornals.
