Unai Emery promoted four youngsters to his Arsenal first-team training session on Wednesday ahead of the Gunners’ fixture away at Bournemouth on Sunday, the Football.London reports.
Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Matteo Guendouzi have all been away on international duty over the past week, leaving Emery promoting a couple of Freddie Ljungberg’s Under-23 players to the first-team training sessions to make up the numbers.
Jordi Osei-Tutu, Charlie Gilmour, Zech Medley and Dominic Thompson were the lucky four to receive the call-up from the Spaniard.
Osei-Tutu, 20, impressed during the pre-season tour of Singapore for Arsenal, but has been sidelined with an injury ever since.
Gilmour has been in fine form this season for the Under-23s, with Medley also being a regular stand-out performer for Ljungberg’s side.
Emery opted to name Medley on the bench for the Gunners’ 3-1 win against Leicester in the Premier League last month for the first time.
Thompson, a left-back, has most likely been included in the first-team training sessions due to the doubt surrounding the fitness of Nacho Monreal, who wasn’t present at London Colney on Wednesday.
