Arsenal will face late competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea in their pursuit of Atletico Mineiro defender Emerson.
According to the Guardian, the Brazilian defender is on Arsenal’s radar ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Reports emerging in South America have suggested that the player is in advanced talks over a deal to join the Gunners, with Unai Emery’s side viewing the youngster as their long-term solution at right-back.

Chelsea are said to hold a similar view, as they continue to look far and wide to pick up some of the best young talents.
Emerson, who could join his namesake at Stamford Bridge, is very highly rated in Brazil and is attracting interest from a host of top European clubs.
Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have previously been credited with an interest in signing the player.
With concerns over the long-term future of Hector Bellerin, Arsenal appear to be preparing for the possibility of losing the Spaniard.
