France manager Didier Deschamps has claimed that Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette’s best position is centrally.
Lacazette has been impressing for Arsenal this season, but has been used as a left-winger and a striker.
The forward has been called up to the France squad for the international break following an injury to Manchester United winger Anthony Martial.
As quoted by The Express, Deschamps said this about Lacazette:
Lacazette is an axial [central] striker.
It’s true that he has already been able to evolve elsewhere for his club.
But it is in the axis [leading the line] that he is at his most powerful.
The striker has scored six goals for Arsenal so far this campaign, after netting 17 in his first season for the club following his move from Lyon.
Lacazette has mainly played centrally for Arsenal, and will be expected to do so for France if he is called pon.
The 27-year-old has scored three goals in 16 caps for France since making his debut in 2013.
