Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, who has also been linked with Arsenal, according to reports.
It’s believed that Spurs will be on the lookout for a new central midfielder in the January transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add further quality and depth to his ranks.
Barella has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with Arsenal touted as a potential destination for the youngster.
As reported by Calciomercato, it’s believed that Spurs have identified Barella as a player who can take Mousa Dembele’s place in the team following his recent ankle injury.

Barella has cemented his place in the Cagliari starting line-up over the course of the past two seasons and has caught the eye of many with some cultured displays for the club.
The midfielder has previously alluded to how flattered he has been by reports linking him with a move to Arsenal, indicating that he’d be open to the prospect of a switch to North London.
However, the Gunners will evidently need to fend off interest from other Premier League clubs, with Tottenham now said to have established an interest.
