Arsenal manager Unai Emery was full of praise for goalkeeper Bernd Leno following the team’s 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners extended their unbeaten run in all competitions but were left disappointed by their failure to take all three points from their clash with Wolves at the Emirates Stadium.
Ivan Cavaleiro gave Wolves an early lead in the first half but Arsenal were able to draw level with four minutes of normal time to spare. After being brought off the bench, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s low cross evaded the crowd of bodies in the box to land in Rui Patricio’s bottom corner.

Arsenal were fortunate to have come away from the match with a point, with Wolves spurning various opportunities. Germany international Leno had a hand in this, as he turned in a strong display in between the sticks.
As quoted by the Evening Standard, Emery reflected on his goalkeeper’s performance. The Gunners boss said:
We knew that today we needed the goalkeeper with his performance because when we are taking risks in our attacking moments, and to give them a transition and options in the transitional moments we would need the goalkeeper. Today I thought his performance was good for us.
