# Danny Welbeck handed double blow following midweek injury

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck’s midweek injury in the Europa League is understood to be a season-ending one, according to the Daily Mail, cited by the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-fear-welbecks-season-good-13565962).

Gunners’ officials are concerned that the 27-year-old has suffered a break, dislocation and ligament damage to his ankle, after falling awkwardly in the first-half against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night.

Welbeck had to receive lengthy on-field treatment after the incident and was stretched off receiving oxygen.

The England international, who’s contract at the Emirates is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, is also set to be handed another blow by the club.

The report suggests that Arsenal have no plans to hand the former Manchester United striker a new deal, which will see the forward leave the club at the end of the season.

The club are set to give an update on the Englishman’s condition over the weekend, however, with no talks over a new deal scheduled, Gunners fans may have seen the last of Welbeck in an Arsenal shirt.
