Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Malcom in recent times but according to claims from Italy, they could face competition from Roma in their pursuit.
The Gunners were touted as the club ‘most interested’ in recruiting Malcom from Barcelona last month. Recent reports, however, have indicated that Arsenal’s interest is not as strong as what was once reported.
However, it seems that they will be faced with European opposition if they do opt to pursue Malcom, with Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato, indicating that Roma may reignite their interest.
Malcom was due to complete a move to Roma during the summer transfer window but performed a U-turn at the 11th hour, as Barcelona swooped to land him from Bordeaux.
However, the Brazilian winger has not enjoyed his tenure at Camp Nou this season, with Ernesto Valverde using him only sparingly.
Arsenal do not have an abundance of natural wide options in their current first-team squad but if they are to move for Malcom in January, it seems they’ll need to accelerate their pursuit to fend off interest from elsewhere.
