Danny Welbeck netted the only goal as Arsenal came away from Sporting CP with a 1-0 win in the Europa League.
The Gunners extended their winning run to 11 games in all competitions as they cast aside a stern test from their Portuguese counterparts.
Arsenal struggled to break down the resolute back-line of Sporting in the first half but came close on two occasions shortly after the interval through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Sporting continued to defend well but their resistance was eventually breached, as Welbeck coolly slotted home Arsenal’s ultimately decisive goal.
