# Emery wanted Lacazette at PSG

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that he wanted to sign Alexandre Lacazette when he was the manager of PSG.

Emery left PSG at the end of last season, before taking over from Arsene Wenger at The Emirates, having won the Ligue 1 title last season.

One man who has made his transition easier is Alexandre Lacazette, who has been in scintillating form upfront for the Gunners.

Lacazette has five goals and three assists this season, with only five starts to his name so far.

And Emery has admitted that he has been an admirer of Lacazette for some time, claiming that he was interested in signing him for PSG the season before last.

[Speaking to The Mirror,](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/unai-emery-reveals-first-time-13449318) Emery said this:

> When I arrived at PSG we were thinking about signing Lacazette.

> His quality and his characteristics we liked, and the people who were working at the club when we arrived, they said to us, ‘This player has the quality to play for PSG’.

> He was at Lyon and it wasn’t easy to have the conversation or to sign a player from Lyon or for Lyon from PSG. But now we are speaking together with Laca every day.
