Bayern Munich Chief clarifies statements on Mesut Ozil

Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has made a remarkable statement on Mesut Ozil, saying that he should have called the German crap, not sh*t.

Hoeness has attacked Ozil verbally in the press on many occasions, especially when the German retired from international football.

Back in July, Hoeness said that  “Ozil has being playing sh*t for years.” when asked about the player’s retirement after the World Cup.

He then later stated it was a “miracle” that the player had been made Arsenal captain under Arsene Wenger.

However, the Bayern chief has clarified his statements on the Arsenal midfielder, stating that he made the comments to take the discussion away from the racist issues surrounding the player’s retirement.

Hoeness said, via TeamTalk:

I should not have said sh*t, but crap.

My opinion of Mesut is clear: I wanted to make a point of diverting the conversation back towards sport. I wanted to divert it away from racism and integration.

Ozil retired from the international game after the World Cup, citing a “feeling of racism and disrespect” as his reasoning for leaving behind the German national team.

The midfielder was part of the 2014 World Cup winning team but was unable to repeat the heroics in Russia where the German side were embarrassingly knocked out in the group stages.
