# Cech racing to prove his fitness ahead of Leicester clash

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is in a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of the Gunners’ clash with Leicester on Monday night.

The [London Evening Standard reports](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/sokratis-papastathopoulos-and-petr-cech-facing-fitness-race-for-arsenal-clash-with-leicester-a3965226.html) that the goalkeeper is still recovering from a hamstring injury, but could still feature against the Foxes.

Bernd Leno is expected to keep his place in the starting XI for Arsenal, but Cech could be named on the bench as the Premier League returns after the international break.

The summer signing was finally given the chance to make the spot his own after an injury forced Cech out of the side.

Since Cech’s injury, Arsenal have won two from two in all competitions, scoring eight goals and conceding just once.

Leno has been forced to wait for his chance to impress at Arsenal, but Unai Emery is likely to give him the chance to retain his spot against Leicester.

Many considered Cech’s injury as something of a blessing, with the former Chelsea man showing signs that he was struggling to adapt to Emery’s demands at Arsenal.
