Real Madrid are set to rival Arsenal for Porto captain Hector Herrera, TEAMtalk states that reports in Portugal say.
The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Portuguese giants in the summer and has shown no interest in remaining in Portugal.
Herrera is catching the eye of several top European clubs with Arsenal previously believed to be the leading contenders for the midfielder’s signature.
However it now appears that Spanish giants Real Madrid are also in the hunt for Herrera and the opportunity to play in. La Liga could be a temptation for the Mexican.
Lyon and Tottenham are both also monitoring Herrera’s contract situation, with the Mexican set to be available on a free transfer new summer if he does not extend his contract with Porto.
The Gunners could look to sign the Porto captain as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey next summer, whose own contract negotiations have broken down.
