The agent of Ricardo Rodriguez has spoken out on behalf of his client, after the left-back was repeatedly linked to Arsenal during the summer.
Fresh off a World Cup showing for Switzerland, Arsenal were supposedly interested in adding the Milan man before the start of the new season.
The Gunners were not alone in their pursuit of Rodriguez, however. Paris Saint-Germain were also keen on adding the 26-year-old full-back, who had just concluded an impressive first season at the San Siro.
Rodriguez made the move to Milan in the summer of 2017 from Wolfsburg, for a fee of €15 million.
Staying put in Italy, Rodriguez’s agent Gianluca di Domenico told Il Corriere dello Sport (quoted by Calcio Mercato):
He’s putting in high-level performances, he had to adapt a little to the Italian championship. Serie A is very difficult and almost all those who come from abroad have problems initially, such as André Silva.
Ricardo has used the time to assimilate the automation of the team, now also Milan knows how to exploit him better. Gattuso has always given him confidence. Ricardo has great professional respect towards Gattuso, the coach is always available and in football I think he is a unique person.
He loves his boys and for them he would do anything, this is how the players perceive it, it’s a rare thing and everyone appreciates it.
Rodriguez seems to be content, which may come as bad news for Arsenal fans. However, current players Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac make up a capable left-back duo.
