Arsenal boss Unai Emery has explained that a back spasm caused Mesut Ozil to miss Sunday’s thrashing of Fulham at Craven Cottage.
As reported on the club’s official website, Emery confirmed that Ozil had missed training and was forced to miss out of the game against the Premier League new boys as a result.
Yesterday [Saturday] he came in with pain and he cannot train yesterday or play today [Sunday].
Ozil was a high-profile absentee from the 5-1 victory, with many people believing that the Gunners, in fact, played better without the German.

Fitting Ozil into a team has been one of the biggest conundrums that Emery has faced during his time at Arsenal so far.
The win over Fulham was one that fans and pundits alike believed showed clear signs that the squad are adapting to the demands and ideas that Emery is trying to implement at the club.
Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were all on the scoresheet in what was an emphatic result for the Gunners.
