Liverpool shocked Arsenal did not pursue Salah deal in 2017

Liverpool were shocked that Arsenal did not pursue a deal for Mohamed Salah in 2017, according to the Times.

In the report, it is revealed that Liverpool were shocked that Arsenal did not try and pursue Mohamed Salah after the Reds had a £34 million pound bid accepted for the Egyptian star.

Since then, Salah has been a star for Liverpool, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side reach last season’s UEFA Champions League final.

However, Arsenal reportedly did not go in for the attacker, as sources had told Arsene Wenger that the player was “wasteful”, meaning that Arsenal ended their interest.

Liverpool got their man, and were aware that Chelsea didn’t have an interest, whilst Manchester United and Manchester City had a slight interest in a deal.

However, the Egyptian joined Liverpool, and led the scoring charts in the Premier League last season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s signings last season have struggled to really get going, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang not having the best of starts in North London.
