Arsenal legend Robert Pires has lavished praise on current Gunners midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The Frenchman analysed Arsenal’s current crop of options and, as quoted by Football London, was quick to single out the Uruguay international for plenty of praise.
I love Lucas Torreira. When you play in his position you need to be a warrior, and he’s a warrior.
Torreira joined Arsenal in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £25 million following some impressive seasons with Sampdoria.
Unai Emery has been integrating Torreira into his starting line-up gradually but many have been impressed with the enigmatic midfielder, given his promising start to life at the Emirates.

Pires also appears to be of the opinion that Torreira has impressed following his summer move to Arsenal, hailing him as a “very good player”.
He likes to fight a good fight with the other players and technically he’s very good. He has good ability with the ball, good vision and now I understand why Arsenal paid a lot of money for him. He’s a very good player.
Torreira came off the bench to contribute towards the Gunners’ comprehensive 3-0 win against Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The midfielder will now be hoping that Emery calls on him to start in Arsenal’s Premier League fixture against Fulham on Sunday afternoon at Craven Cottage.
