# Tottenham make contact over deal to sign Arsenal target Hector Herrera

Tottenham have reportedly made contact with Portuguese giants Porto regarding the possibility of signing Arsenal target Hector Herrera.

[According to A Bola, as cited on TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/euro-paper-talk-tottenham-make-firm-e8m-approach-for-new-midfield-general-hazard-in-huge-chelsea-exit-admission), the Mexican international ranks highly on Spurs’ list of potential transfer targets for the January window, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to strengthen his squad.

The Londoners have reportedly offered a fee in the region of €8 million to bring him to the Premier League.

Herrera was heavily linked with a move away from Porto during the summer, but no deal ever materialised.

A host of clubs, including big names like Real Madrid, were credited with an interest but he opted to remain with the Portuguese giants.

Any deal for the Mexican midfielder is likely to depend on Porto’s progression in the Champions League, according to the report.

If they fail to qualify from their group that includes Galatasaray, Schalke and Lokomotiv Moscow then they may be forced to cash in.
