Guendouzi could get first France call-up

Matteo Guendouzi could be given his first call-up to the French national team during the next international break.

Reports in France from Téléfoot claim that Didier Deschamps is considering bringing the player into the fold.

Guendouzi has impressed since joining Arsenal from Lorient in the summer.

Despite widely being considered as a player for the future, Guendouzi has nailed down a place in the first-team squad, playing as a regular in the opening games of the new season.

Bayern Munich’s Corentin Tolisso is set to miss out and the World Cup winners need to bring someone in to replace him.

The report claims that Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele is among the favourites after an impressive start to the season, but Guendouzi is also believed to be under consideration.

France have a meeting with Iceland in a friendly before a tough game against Germany in the UEFA Nations League later this month.
