# Unai Emery defends Aaron Ramsey for rejecting new deal

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has defended Aaron Ramsey’s decision to stall over a new deal, but doesn’t expect the talks to affect the Welshman on the pitch, [London Football News](https://londonfootballnews.co.uk/arsenal/emery-defends-ramsey-for-not-accepting-arsenal-deal/) report.

The 27-year-old, who has featured in every Premier League game under Emery so far, has spent 10 years at the Emirates Stadium, after joining from Cardiff City in 2008.

Since then, the box-to-box midfielder has made over 300 appearances for the Gunners and has been a vital figure under former boss Arsene Wenger, winning three FA Cup’s with the club over the past five years.

However, with talks over a new deal seemingly moving nowhere, current manager Emery was asked about the situation earlier in the week and the Spaniard defended the Welshman’s decision to hold out for the best possible deal in the process.

> The career for the footballer is very short. They are professionals for 10 ,12 or 15 years, but not more, and they need to take the best performance and also work very hard in these years for their future and their family’s future.

Despite Ramsey’s future up in the air, he is expected to be involved in the Gunners’ matchday squad when they take on Watford this afternoon.
