Arsenal want to sign FC Porto captain Hector Herrera, according to a report from Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manha.
The Mexican international has been a mainstay in the Porto starting line-up for several years now but his tenure with the club could be drawing to a close, with no contract extension agreed as yet.
Herrera was heavily linked with an exit from Porto during the summer transfer window but no move came to fruition. Ahead of the upcoming window, however, it seems his future has been placed under yet more scrutiny.

The midfielder has just one year remaining on his current contract with the Portuguese giants and it seems as though talks between the parties are at an impasse. This has led to speculation surrounding his future at the Estadio do Dragao.
If Arsenal want to recruit Herrera and take advantage of his contractual situation, though, they will be forced to fend off competition from elsewhere.
It’s reported by Correio da Manha that the Gunners are joined by La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race for the experienced midfielder’s signature.
