Maitland-Niles closing in on early return to training
Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles is reportedly close to a return to training as he continues to recover from a broken leg.
The London Evening Standard reports that the versatile youngster is set to hand Unai Emery a big fitness boost.
The report claims that Maitland-Niles is expected to return to full training next month after suffering his injury against Manchester City in the Gunners’ first game of the season.
It had been expected that Maitland-Niles would be ruled out up until November, but the youngster is way ahead of schedule.
His return will be a huge boost to Emery, who had been hoping to utilise at left-back.
With Sead Kolasinac also on the sidelines, Nacho Monreal has been the club’s only fit senior left-back for the new Gunners boss to call upon.
He was one of the youngsters tipped to break into the Arsenal side and nail down a place under Emery.
