# Willock rejected Spurs offer before leaving Arsenal

Former Arsenal youngster Chris Willock rejected the chance to join Premier League rivals Tottenham and Manchester City before leaving the Gunners over the summer.

[Portuguese outlet A Bola report](https://www.abola.pt/Clubes/Noticias/Ver/749187/40) that the player had offers before taking his career abroad and joining Benfica.

Willock was the latest in growing list of young English players to move to a foreign side in the search of a clearer route to first-team football.

He follows the likes of Jadon Sancho and Reece Oxford, with the former turning down a professional deal at Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund.

The report claims that there was also interest in his services throughout the summer, with a number of Premier League teams looking to take him on loan, but he opted to stay in Portugal.

Willock is yet to make his competitive first-team debut for the Portuguese side but is a regular for their B team.
