Danny Welbeck has dismissed the summer speculation that linked him with an exit from Arsenal, insisting that his focus still remains solely on impressing when called upon by Unai Emery.
As quoted by the Mirror, the striker spoke after seeing a last-gasp goal disallowed in England’s unfortunate 2-1 defeat to Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.
Welbeck fielded questions about his future at Arsenal but was quick to divert attention towards how he intends to stake his claim for a regular place in Emery’s plans.
Obviously, I started a bit late, coming back from the World Cup and then getting back to pre-season a bit later than others. But a lot of people have been through that.

Whenever I get on the pitch, I’ve trained hard, I’m just going to give it my all and try to stake a place.
The former Manchester United star has been forced to settle for substitute appearances this season but already has a goal to his name, following a strike in the 3-1 win against West Ham.
Welbeck faces fierce competition for places in the Arsenal line-up, with Alexandre Lacazette in good form and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remaining a favourable option.
The experienced forward will be looking to be handed a chance to shine against Newcastle United following the international break’s conclusion next week.
