Arsenal are set to have Alex Iwobi available for selection when they travel to Newcastle United after the international break.
The Gunners winger has been struggling for fitness in recent times and was even forced to withdraw from the Nigeria squad ahead of their encounter with Seychelles.
Iwobi has been in and out of the Arsenal team since Unai Emery’s arrival at the club but made starts against Chelsea and West Ham, as he helped his side secure their first three points of the season in the fixture against the Hammers.

However, the versatile attacking player was forced to sit on the sidelines for Arsenal’s dramatic away win at Cardiff City last weekend, with illness keeping him out of the match.
Nevertheless, Iwobi appears to be closing in on a return to fitness and his father Chuka has delivered a positive update on the condition of his son. As quoted by All Nigeria Soccer, Iwobi’s father spoke about the winger’s struggles with health recently.
It was sad for Alex that he wasn’t in the squad for the Arsenal match versus Cardiff and had to withdraw from the national team for the match versus Seychelles. He loves playing for Nigeria and was extremely disappointed.
He is on the road to recovery and should be back before the game against Newcastle (on 15th September).
