Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has his sights set firmly on a place within the French national squad after breaking through at the Emirates.
Speaking to French outlet Ouest-France, Guendouzi explained that he is targeting a place in Didier Deschamps’ squad after hitting the ground running at Arsenal.
For now, I’m really focused on my goals with Arsenal. I do not rush, things will come if they have to come. But inevitably, it’s a dream for me. I will do everything to get there someday.

Guendouzi joined the club over the summer from Ligue 2 side Lorient but impressed during pre-season and has nailed down a place in Unai Emery’s plans.
He has been one of the standout performers from the first four games of the season, with fellow summer signing Lucas Torreira missing out on a place in the team for the time being.
The midfielder has represented France at youth level, but at the tender age of just 19, is yet to get a senior call-up.
Breaking into the French will be no mean feat for Guendouzi, given their success in Russia over the summer, competition for places will undoubtedly be fierce.
