Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has escaped punishment from the FA after allegations of a political gesture were made during his goal celebration against Cardiff City.
Mustafi opened the scoring for the Gunners as they came away from Cardiff with an important 3-2 win. The central defender leapt to thump home a header beyond the reach of Neil Etheridge but controversy followed as he celebrated the goal with his teammates.

It has been claimed that Mustafi’s hands in the celebration symbolised the double-headed eagle, pictured in Albania’s national flag, inferring that a political gesture had been made by the defender.
However, as reported by the Mirror, the FA have dismissed any allegations of wrongdoing on Mustafi’s part, with no further punishment or action to be taken.
Switzerland duo Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka came in for criticism along with sizable respective fines when they appeared to carry out the same celebratory gestures when they netted against Serbia in this summer’s World Cup.
