# Gunners offer Igor Diveev a trial

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in young Russian defender Igor Diveev by offering the player a trial.

[The Mirror, who cite claims from Russian outlet Championat, reports](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-offer-trial-highly-rated-13122895) that the Gunners have written to his current club FC Ufa and expressed their interest in the young star.

[The Gunners have been keeping an eye](https://readarsenal.com/2018/08/20/arsenal-eye-move-for-promising-young-russia-defender-igor-diveev/) on Diveev at the COTIF youth tournament, where he has impressed for his country.

Diveev will head to London for the chance to showcase what he can do, with the chance to secure a big move so early in his career.

The defender stands at an impressive 6ft 3in at the age of just 18 and is very highly thought of back in Russia.

Any deal would be considered as one for the future, with the defender yet to play senior first-team football in Russia, however, getting a deal over the line would be considered as a coup for Arsenal.
