Arsenal’s poor start to the season continued with the Gunner’s slipping to a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
In a game full of goals, Arsenal started in the worst possible fashion. Chelsea quickly opened up a two goal lead against the Gunners.
Pedro netted after nine minutes for the Blues, whilst Alvaro Morata took advantage of poor Arsenal finishing to score the second.
Arsenal then made a comeback, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan making amends for some poor finishing earlier in the night to score the Gunners’ first. Alex Iwobi then scored a second, levelling the match before half time.
However it wasn’t to be for the Gunners, who suffered defeat late on thanks to a Marcos Alonso goal, meaning that Arsenal start the season with two defeats.
Here’s how we rated the Gunners.
Petr Cech - 7
Did well and made some solid saves.
Hector Bellerin - 6
Dangerous going forward, but has too many defensive lapses.
Sokratis - 6
His lack of pace was exposed with Arsenal’s high line. Must be changed going forward.
Shkodran Mustafi - 5
Exposed at the back and made Morata look quick on the attack. Very much a weak link in the Arsenal back line.
Nacho Monreal - 6
The Spaniard’s return was welcome, and he made an impact here.
Granit Xhaka - 3
In a shock move, the Swiss midfielder was booked before being subbed at half time after a torrid 45 minutes.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 7
Got his goal and was solid apart from his first half miss.
Mesut Ozil - 5
Subbed in the second half for the right reasons. Poor.
Alex Iwobi - 7
Did well despite his surprise inclusion.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang - 4
Not a good outing from the forward, who’s finishing was awful.
