Arsenal are set to have a quiet January transfer window due to significant restrictions on their wage bill, the Telegraph reports.
Prior to the summer transfer window Arsenal’s wage bill was already at a record high of more than £200m a year. However the signings of Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Stefan Lichsteiner have only further increased that.
Despite Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Lucas Perez all leaving this summer, extensions to both Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ contracts have also raised the bill.
The wage bill was significantly raised in January due to the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, as well as a new club record deal for Mesut Ozil who is now believed to be earning above £300,000 a week.

With the club also hoping to agree a new and improved contract with Aaron Ramsey, Unai Emery will face significant transfer restrictions in the January window.
Arsenal are however set to be in a much better financial position next summer with Adidas expected to replace Puma as the kit manufacturer which will bring in a £20m increase per year.
The new main Emirates shirt deal and a first separate sleeve sponsor for the club will alone bring in £20m more per year.
