# Joel Campbell closing in on Italy loan move

Joel Campbell is closing in on a surprise loan move to Serie A new boys Frosinone.

[Football Italia, who cite claims from Sky Italia](https://www.football-italia.net/126151/frosinone-close-campbell), report that the Italians are hopeful about their chances of luring the player to Serie A this season.

The two clubs are said to have had overnight talks over a move for the Costa Rican international.

Frosinone are looking to strengthen their squad before the end of the transfer window in a bid to stay up at the first attempt.

They are due to face late competition from Benevento, who could look to loan the player with an option to buy.

However, for the latter to seal a deal, Arsenal would have to extend the player’s contract, as he enters the final months of his current deal in North London.

The winger, who once had a lot expected of him in London, has become something of a peripheral figure at the club and has endured loan spells in Spain, France, Portugal and Greece.
