Arsenal attempted a late deadline day switch for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele, with the Spanish side refusing to tell the winger about the Gunners’ interest, according to RAC1, cited by the Daily Express.
Despite numerous reports believing that the Gunners didn’t make a deadline day approach for the World Cup winner, RAC1 suggest that officials in London did try and lure the 21-year-old away from the Catalan giants.

The report suggests that Barca were convinced that Dembele wouldn’t be interested in a move to the Premier League, so they decided not to inform the player of the offer on the table.
However, the Gunners, who reportedly offered £9 million to take the winger on loan for the upcoming season, missed out on the French international and Unai Emery didn’t add to his squad on deadline day.
Despite the transfer window now being closed for Premier League sides, it remains open in Europe until the end of the month, with Paris Saint-Germain now supposedly interested in Dembele.
