Aaron Ramsey is close to signing a new contract with Arsenal, according to the Metro.
The 27-year-old Welsh international’s contract with the Gunners runs out next summer and Arsenal risk losing him on a free transfer next.
Chelsea are said to be interest in signing the midfielder before tomorrow’s 5pm deadline, with the Blues ready to spend £35million on the player.
However Arsenal are now believed to be close to agreeing terms with Ramsey to extend his stay at the Emirates.
New Arsenal boss Unai Emery spoke about Ramsey’s contract situation last month, stating that he both hopes and believes that the player will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
Aaron is an important player for us, and the contract is one thing for the club and the player.
For me, I want him to stay with us, to work with us, to give the team the big performance.
I think he is going to stay here with us.
