Decision on Welbeck’s future to be dragged into deadline day

The saga surrounding Danny Welbeck’s future at Arsenal looks set to be dragged into transfer deadline day as several clubs plot a move for the English forward, according to Daily Telegraph journalist Jeremy Wilson.

The 27-year-old striker is being watched by many Premier League clubs, including West Ham United and Everton. The Hammers are also expected to announce the signing of Lucas Perez from the Gunners.

Turkish side Besiktas have also registered their interest in the former Manchester United forward but the player himself is eager to remain in the English top flight.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is open to the idea of letting Welbeck leave and already has a wealth of attackers at his disposal, meaning the former Manchester United forward is likely to have limited playing time at the Emirates.

Bournemouth and Southampton are also keeping a close eye on Welbeck’s situation and could swoop in with a late bid before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.

Emery wants to cut Arsenal’s significant wage bill and with Welbeck earning £115,000 a week, selling him will be financially advantageous for the club.
